Responsible gambling
Casino games carry a built-in mathematical advantage for the house. Over enough play, that advantage decides the outcome. Everything below follows from that one fact.
18+ or 19+ depending on your province. 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec; 19 in the rest of Canada. Gambling is entertainment with a price, not a way to make money or to fix a shortfall.
Free, confidential help in Canada
Provincial services are independent of any casino and cost nothing to use. In Ontario, ConnexOntario answers gambling, mental health and addiction calls around the clock. In Alberta, the Alberta Health Services addiction help line does the same. British Columbia runs a province-wide Gambling Support Line. Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Atlantic provinces each operate equivalent services, and Gambling Therapy offers online support internationally. Provincial health authority websites list the current numbers — these services change numbers occasionally, and a current number from an official source is better than an out-of-date one printed here.

Tools that work better than willpower

Tools for limits and account breaks Deposit limits
Set inside the account, before a session. Decreases usually apply immediately; increases carry a cooling-off delay by design.
Session limits
A timer that does not negotiate. Phones and browsers offer their own if the casino does not.
Cooling-off
A short break that locks the account for a defined period. Useful after a bad session rather than during one.
Self-exclusion
A long-term block. In Canada, schemes are administered provincially, so what is available depends on where you live.
Warning signs
Gambling more to recover losses. Betting money set aside for rent, bills or food. Hiding the extent of play from people close to you. Borrowing to fund it. Feeling irritable when unable to play. Chasing a session past the point where it stopped being enjoyable. Any one of these is worth acting on; several together mean the free services above are the right call today rather than eventually.
Practical guardrails
Decide the amount before opening the site, and treat it as spent the moment it is deposited. Keep gambling money in an instrument separate from money with a job. Never gamble to solve a financial problem — the mathematics runs the other way. Do not play while drinking or while upset. And treat a bonus for what it is: a longer session with a staking obligation attached, not extra money. The bonus terms page shows what 50x wagering actually requires.

Protecting other people
Where a device is shared, account-level parental controls and device restrictions are more reliable than trust. Anyone below their provincial legal age should not hold a gambling account at all, and an adult who lets a minor use theirs risks the account being closed and the balance voided.
